What is Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)?

Luxury Vinyl Tile, or LVT flooring, is a brilliant option for those on a budget or looking for a more cost-effective flooring solution. This type of flooring is durable yet flexible, and it’s easy to install – even for beginners. LVT flooring is renowned for its ability to imitate high-end designs, but thanks to the multiple layers used to create this type of tile, it’s also very robust and tough.

Luxury Vinyl Tiles are easy to clean, so they’re a popular choice in homes. They can be installed quickly and are simple to maintain. There are several colour and finish options to choose between which provides plenty of flexibility depending on whether you want a more rustic or polished result.

Durability of LVT

One of the key advantages to LVT flooring is the level of durability it delivers. The top layer of LVT is PVC, which means you’ll have the added benefit of a waterproof later. This makes kitchen or bathroom luxury vinyl tile great where water spillages are more likely. But in addition to being waterproof, LVT flooring is also slip-resistant so it is safer than having a wooden floor which can be dangerous when wet. LVT flooring is made up of several layers so it’s hardwearing and robust – a great benefit in high footfall areas where the floor undergoes more wear and tear.

Installation

LVT flooring is easily fixed in place and there are several ways to install it. In addition to the click luxury vinyl tile system, you can also install it using self-adhesive, glue or loose lay methods, depending on the environment you’re installing it in.

Advantages of LVT

There are many benefits to Luxury Vinyl Tiles which may make them a better option for your needs compared to solid or engineered wood flooring. LVT can be used with underfloor heating, providing the temperature does not exceed 27 degrees, and it offers brilliant heat retention. The layer of polyurethane gives this type of flooring a tough later than ensures it will cope more easily with scuffs.

LVT flooring is waterproof and slip-resistant, so it’s a better option than solid wood flooring in rooms where this is likely to be an issue, such as washrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. It’s also easier to clean and maintain than solid wood or engineered wood flooring, so it’s a practical choice for family homes or commercial settings, as well as being quieter to walk on than laminate flooring
